Alejandra Schrader is a chef, food TV personality, and healthy food advocate based in Los Angeles, CA. She has been featured on all major U.S. television networks in English and Spanish and has performed cooking segments on programs such as The Talk, Access Hollywood Live, Cafe CNN, Home & Family, and Despierta America (Univision’s morning talk show). Alejandra has also made appearances on national Canadian talk shows like The Marilyn Denis Show and The Social. Her interviews and recipes have been featured in high profile magazines such as InTouch Weekly and Taste of Home.

Mrs. Schrader was born in Chicago, IL and spent her childhood and half of her life in Caracas, Venezuela. She learned family recipes and traditional Venezuelan dishes from her mom and grandmother. With that foundation, she became passionate about cooking and inquisitive about cultural flavors and culinary traditions from Mexico to Argentina and everything in between. Once relocated to the United States, Alejandra immersed herself in a journey that slowly built a culinary portfolio packed with big flavors and lots of sazón, a Latin-American term that refers not only to seasoning but to the cook’s ability to generate magical flavors from a combination of technique and ingredients.

An alumnus of the University of Michigan, Alejandra received a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning in 2005 with a focus on sustainability and land development. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. After the U.S. real estate market crash in 2011 and driven by her passion for food, she decided to explore an alternative career and applied for FOX’s popular show MasterChef (Season 2.) She earned a spot as a top finalist, was later named a fan-favorite of the show and has never looked back.

Influenced by her professional background, Schrader pursued a culinary journey focused on food systems as they relate to a greener planet. She owns a private chef business, teaches healthy cooking classes, and performs cooking demonstrations at special events and in front of the camera. She uses her platform to showcase health conscious meals that are “cooked smart” and packed with flavor and nutritional value. She advocates for plant-based diets and environmentally friendly farming practices. Her own struggles with obesity and related health issues motivated her to stop consuming all meat, except for seafood, and to switch to a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle diet that embraces plant-forward dishes.

Alejandra is a Sister on the Planet Ambassador for Oxfam America and a founding member of the Chef’s Manifesto; she has participated in campaigns with organizations such as SDG2 Advocacy Hub, Global Citizen, and the World Food Programme. Considered a food expert on planetary health diets, Chef Alejandra is invited to prestigious food and sustainability events in the U.S. and internationally (Peru, Sweden, Italy). So far in 2019, she has been a panel speaker at the United Nations, as well as the World Bank, and a policy advocacy delegate at the U.S. Capitol. She was recently interviewed by The New York Times for an article discussing planet-friendly food.

A seasoned public speaker, Chef Alejandra has served as a Spokesperson for award-winning campaigns with major national brands such as State Farm Insurance. She excels at bilingual, live segments and satellite media tours where she proudly showcases her bold Latin flavors. She regularly performs cooking demonstrations at culinary festivals and high-profile events both domestically and outside of the United States. She has shot national and worldwide commercials for distinguished brands such as Coors Light, Microsoft, and Boost Mobile. Mrs. Schrader is SAG-AFTRA eligible.
