Purpose & Objectives
Participants will spend their day(s) under the lights and in front of the camera, taping and critiquing actual television demonstrations of varying lengths.
The purpose of this training is to:
- Assess current interview level and style, with emphasis on existing skills
- Provide extensive practice in a supportive, constructive environment
- Offer direct, personalized feedback
- Create an individualized action plan for identifying and coordinating opportunities
The objectives of this training are to:
- Understand how to select and break down appropriate recipes for demonstration
- Learn how to prepare detailed equipment and preparation lists for food escorts or stylists
- Determine key message points and identify ways to incorporate them into each interview
- Uncover subtle techniques for building an effective relationship with interviewer or host
- Identify ways to make the most of an interview when time is unexpectedly decreased
- Recognize the differences between commercial and public radio shows
- Discover how to give powerful radio interviews with strong “visual” appeal
Course participants will practice:
- “Blocking Out” the set and choosing the best utensils and equipment
- Cooking and speaking simultaneously
- Fielding difficult media questions
- Leading the interview or segment
- Staying “on track” and “on message”
